Spring is near !

I do believe that Spring is almost here.
We took advantage of some beautiful weather yesterday and took a bike ride with some friends.
Unfortunately my phone died and I did not get a single picture.
Today, old man Winter is trying his best to make to make a return but
I believe it will be short lived.

My goal to post more regularly still needs some work
and I will try to play catch up with highlights of the past two months.

My three sisters and I surprised my Dad for his 75th birthday on February 15th.
That meant one from Missouri, one from So California and me from Illinois
traveling to No California for a few days of fun, family and lots of good food!

We definitely surprised dad with a short rendition of the song
"We Are Family" while he was playing broom hockey with the youth at church.
I should say that our dad is a 75 year old kid that the youth LOVE!
He's still trying to process the fact that we are all there.

We took lots and lots of pictures.  None of us are photographers so
some are blurry and some have the tops of heads cut off.

Blowing kisses to the birthday boy taking the pictures.

This was the first time that all of us had been together at my parents
without kids and husbands in over thirty years!

My dad, sister Beth and I had the opportunity to participate in a scholarship run
in memory of Heidi Greenwood.  Life in the Air Force gives us lots of chances to meet wonderful people.  We go to know the Greenwood family when they lived in Illinois.
They moved from Illinois to No California near my parents.
Heidi passed away March 22, 2013 at just 18 yrs old.
Click here to watch a video about the run.

Dad's knees were bothering him but there was no way he wasn't going to finish the race!

It was a beautiful morning to honor Heidi and spend time with my dad and sister.

I have been busy working on lots of beautiful quilts.  I have the best customers that have become my friends.  I love the story behind each quilt.  So much time and love goes into every one.

Lenzi made this quilt for her mom from some Red Riding Hood fabric.  It had minkie on the back and was so cuddly soft.  Lots of times I quilt away and am pleasantly surprised at how the quilting comes together.  You just don't get the full picture until it's off the frame and laid out in front of you.

Sandy made this batik beauty.  Isn't that pink block a fun surprise?

Michelle finished her very first quilt when she made this Log Cabin star. The colors are so rich.
It was a gift to her husband who loved the flannel top and plush backing.
She did a great job on her first quilt, don't you think?

So that's a bit of what's been going on in my little neck of the woods.
I'm looking forward to getting out into my flower beds.
I think I need to go buy some Pansies for the front porch.

Happy Quilting!
